Brian Keen: Exclusive Dark Bites Interview

Image
Last night while the wintry gusts blew outside and the moon fought to shine down through the grey clouds gathered above this cold city of mine, I sat down to converse with multiple Bram Stoker award winning author, Brian Keene  via Twitter.  Naturally we talked about what it meant to lose a shot at congress along with Jesus and Satan as well as advice for writers trying to balance life and his vampire book in progress where Edward may or may not get his glittery ass handed to him. *** Editor's note:  This is my third or fourth time having the pleasure of interviewing Brian.  I say this because by now I should certainly know, at the least, which of his first several books were written when, especially considering that I've read them.  Editor's note to self:  Do not begin an interview while the daughter is still awake and making requests, lest the mind get muddled and the mouth says dumb things! *** Dark Bites:  Although you've refe...

Brian Keene's The Resurrection and the Life: Retro review with bonus interview

Image
THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE, BY BRIAN KEENE  As a warm up to an interview I'll be doing shortly with Bram Stoker award winning novelist, Brian Keene, here is a little something I wrote around 2006 or so.  I'd love to reference where I first published this, but for the life of me I just can't recall so if you happen to do a search that turns up it's original home, feel free to let me know.   At present, this book is now sold out by Biting Dog Press, but I figured I would re-post it here along with interviews with author, publisher and artist since it offers a nice glimpse into the process of making the book its self and how Brian came to write the story found inside. Resurrecting the Goods Deciding to purchase Brian Keene’s The Resurrection And The Life from Biting Dog Press should be no exception to the typical Buyer’s Beware rule. You’d be foolish to ignore the possibility this book can’t be judged by its incredible cover. N...

Steve Wedel: An exclusive live audio interview

Image
I first "met" Steven E. Wedel back in my days of writing for Insidious Reflections magazine (now defunct).  The magazine had interviewed him, but mostly I remembered Steve as being a constant support system and fan of the magazine, which made me instantly like him.  It was a few years later when I was writing for Fear Zone (also defunct, but still available to read at www.fearzone.com) that it was arranged for me to interview Steve.  Since I feel it's neither right or sensible to interview one's subject without first having an in depth knowledge of their work, I dove in and read several of his works including the entire Werewolf Saga books to date.  First impression was how the hell had I gone this long without reading this man's work?  And why wasn't he on any major best sellers list as he so obviously deserves?  The man can write!  I immediately read everything I could by him.  Short stories, novellas, novels - it...
